Brewer Middle Sixth Grade Center and renovations

The WSISD Bond program includes the following additions and renovations at Brewer Middle School:
  • a two-story Sixth Grade Center addition that will serve all WSISD sixth graders.
  • a cafeteria addition and renovation that will serve as an auditorium and seat 2,000 students.
  • expansion of the Fine Arts area including the band hall and choir room.
  • a new competition gym.
This summer, the school’s administrative offices were temporarily relocated to the library area so crews could begin demolition of that area, paving the way for the new Sixth Grade Center.   Crews also demoed the building off Gibbs Street and part of the existing cafeteria to prepare for construction of the new kitchen and cafeteria, slated to begin in January and projected for completion in the spring of 2025.
The Sixth Grade Center will be constructed off Cherry Lane—near the Dorothy Morris Multi-Purpose Center—and open to students in the spring of 2025.   The new practice gym (projected to be completed in May 2025) will be constructed adjacent to the new wing, off Gibbs Street.
Renovation and expansion of the Fine Arts area and band hall will begin this January 2024.
Sixth Grade Center
Currently, sixth graders attend Tannahill Intermediate or the Fine Arts Academy. For the 2024-25 school year, Tannahill Intermediate will only serve sixth graders.  Projected completion of the Sixth Grade Center is February 2025.    Shared staffing will provide additional opportunities for sixth graders in Career and Technical Education (CTE), fine arts and pre-athletics.
