Proposed Grade Level Instructional Alignment
As part of the bond package, WSISD will undergo a grade level instructional realignment that will effect the elementary, intermediate and middle school campuses. The changes would increase capacity at ALL elementary schools and begin in 3 to 5 years.
The proposed grade level realignment will strengthen the kindergarten through fifth grade curriculum alignment in all subjects and create a stronger foundation for students as they transition to the middle school starting in sixth grade. The alignment would allow elementary age students to only transition to a new school one time. Currently, students change schools from elementary to intermediate and from intermediate to middle school. This would result in one transition—from elementary to the Sixth Grade Center.
